After participating in Berlin, Amsterdam, Herne, Cologne and Hamburg I can honestly say it's always a pleasure and honor to be invited by it's founder and director @javierabarca.es. Over the years it became an annual family meeting with like-minded old and new friends. This year Munich is the place to be. Together with @benjamin.schandelmaier and his amazing team from @munich_graffiti_library it's held in the @das_abgussmuseum this May. He seems to have just sat down and started trying to pull out the thorn, or we are already in the middle of his renewed attempts. ° He is completely focused on it. ° Whether and when he will succeed remains an open question. ° The original of this bronze sculpture was probably not excavated, but has been “above ground” since it was created. ° Originally owned by the papacy, it was donated to the city of Rome by Pope Sixtus IV in 1471. Under Napoleon in Paris, the sculpture has been back in Rome since 1917. ° The dating is difficult to establish clearly: Greek original 3rd century BC, Roman copy 1st century BC. ° The sculpture shown is a plaster cast that can be seen in the Museum of Casts of Classical Sculptures in Munich. ° This state museum is dedicated to bringing ancient sculptures closer to a wider audience.
